Membership
Duties and Responsibilities
Every member shall conduct himself or herself in a manner that preserves NIPM's image and dignity, and shall not misuse authority or office for personal gain or self-interest.
Every member is liable to pay the appropriate annual subscription, which becomes due and payable before 1st April every year.
Members not clearing annual subscription within three months from commencement of the year, i.e. by 30th June, shall be treated as defaulters. If dues remain unpaid by 30th September, their names are liable to be removed from membership.
A person removed from membership may be readmitted in the same class by the Council on application, provided all arrears are cleared before readmission.
A member shall cease to be a member on death, withdrawal of membership, being adjudicated by a competent court to be of unsound mind, or being convicted for an offence involving moral turpitude. A Student Member ceases membership immediately on cessation of the course for which membership was granted.
The Council may suspend a member after due investigation for acts against the memorandum, regulations, interests of the Institute or concerned Chapter, or acts likely to bring discredit to the Institute, provided the member is given an opportunity to explain.
A suspended member loses membership benefits and rights, but may appeal to the General Body by filing a memorandum of appeal with the General Secretary within sixty days of suspension.
A member may be expelled by the General Body by a two-thirds majority of members present at a meeting held for the purpose, provided the member has been given an opportunity to explain the charges.
