Origin & Evolution
A vibrant chapter rooted in Kerala's professional HR movement
NIPM Kerala Chapter was the 7th Chapter of NIPM in the country. The Kerala Chapter of the Indian Institute of Personnel Management took its embryonic shape in the year 1961 at Cochin, the head quarters of Ernakulam district.
Barring few Industries namely, M/s. FACT Ltd, Travancore Cochin Chemicals Ltd, Indian Rare Earths Ltd, Hindustan Insecticides Ltd, located at Udyogamandal, Tata Oil Mills company Ltd at Tatapurm and Indian Aluminium Co. Ltd at Alupuram, Cochin was mainly a trade and business center.

The activities were therefore confined to occasional get togethers till new industrial establishments like M/s. HMT Ltd, Premier Tyres Ltd, Cochin Refineries Ltd, Cochin Shipyard Ltd and Carborandum Universal Ltd came into existence followed by many large scale and medium size establishments in the second half of 1960's.
This heralded a new era in the industrial history of Cochin, which resulted in the outbreak of new professional style in Personnel Management.
Kerala Chapter of NIPM, with more than 1200 Individual Members and 51 Institutional Members on rolls is one of the most vibrant Chapters of the Institute.
NIPM Kerala Chapter has been regularly organizing Workshops & Training Programs as part of its Human Resources Development Endeavors.
Chapter Impact
Learning, employability, contests and selection support
Kerala Chapter is also conducting Enhanced Employability Certification programs for job seekers and for final year Students at various B-Schools, Business Quiz for B-School Students, Young Managers' Contest on "Innovative Employee Engagement Practices" for Practicing HR professionals etc.
NIPM Kerala Chapter is also engaged in Recruitment & Selection of Manpower / Entrance Examinations for Public / Private Sector Industries at different locations in Kerala.
Kerala Chapter of NIPM has been adjudged as the Best Chapter among the 52 Chapters in the Country consecutively for many years and the last being 2014-2015. NIPM Kerala Chapter also has in its credit the successful conducting of NIPM National Conference 2012 (NCON 2012) and the maiden HR Conclave 2015 (HRCon2015) at Kochi.

Connected with national and international HR bodies
NIPM is a member of the International Industrial Relations Association, Geneva (IIRA) and the Asian Pacific Federation for Personnel Management (APFPM), which in turn is affiliated to the World Federation of Personnel Management Association (WFPMA).
NIPM also regularly interacts with Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), UK, and Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), USA.
NIPM maintains close contact with International Labour Organisation (ILO), Geneva and its area office at New Delhi.
